GunZ is an Indonesian musician from Sorong, West Papua. He started his musical journey in the genre of Hip-Hop, hence the stage name of “Tukang Cukur Hiphop” where he works daily as a hair stylist at Hairnerds Studio, Kebayoran. Growing up in an environment that influenced his songwriting, GunZ adapted to his new environment in the capital city (Jakarta).
GunZ started in 2015 with his debut single and since has released an EP, Album, and collaborations. In October 2023, he began to wonder what his music will sound like if he shifted into a new genre, R&B. After many trials and errors, workshops, collaborating with the right people, in 2024, GunZ is currently in the process of releasing his debut R&B album with two singles titled “TRY” released on Feb, 16th and “All I Need” which is set to release on May, 24th. This album is showing a version of GunZ that is stripped down, showing vulnerability and depths of emotions. It’s a journey through the heart, mind, and soul. Each track is a piece of a larger narrative, weaving together stories of love, loss, redemption, and self-discovery.
To celebrate the upcoming of his new R&B album “Another Side”, GunZ is set to have his very first mini showcase as “Tukang Cukur R&B” on Sunday, 2 June 2024 at Gara Gara Canteenbar, Kemang. With the support of HONAY, Hairnerds Studio, HAIRPRO (Hairnerds Professional), Public Culture, OCWA Studio, StartFromToday, Gara Gara Canteenbar, AR.KATA and many more. In this mini showcase, GunZ will perform a mix of songs from his album called “LOVE” and his new upcoming album “Another Side”, collaborating with phenomenal arrangers, Jordy Waelauruw and Marthin Siahaan, with the opening act by Pieter Anroputra. GunZ’s vocals mixed with the music from StartFromToday (SFT), a few songs to anticipate is “Sorry I Love You (SILY)”, “Belum Sempat”, “Pambadusta” from the album LOVE and “TRY”, “All I Need”, and a few more songs from “Another Side”.
